Linda Brayer Stone

Linda Hayden Brayer Stone of Laurel, MD, died suddenly Monday, March 11, 2013, at Laurel Regional Hospital, Laurel, MD, at the all-too young age of 66. Linda was born August 14, 1946 in Rochester, NY, to the late Franklin Brayer and Mary Brayer, both of Rochester.

Linda is survived and deeply mourned by:
Her loving husband, Garold Raymond Stone, in Laurel, MD;
Her two beloved sons: Jesse Brayer Stone, wife Rachel Mclaren, and cherished first grand-daughter Ella, in Iowa City, IA; Eliot Hayden Stone and fiancé, Allison Troy, in Downingtown, PA;
Her seven caring siblings: Mary Anne Trupei; Suzanne Valentine and husband William; Jean Tomasso and husband Dave; Laurie Nicoles; Charlie Brayer and wife Patricia; Thomas Brayer and wife Amy; and John Brayer; all in Rochester, NY;
Her dearest mother-in-law Dorothy Stone, in Laurel, MD;
And so many other relatives, friends and colleagues.

Linda earned a Masters of Science in Counseling from Catholic University, DC., and a Masters of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy, from University of Maryland, College Park, MD.

She worked many years as a drug and alcohol counsellor for Prince George's County, before establishing her own private family therapy practice. She supervised UMD Family Therapy masters candidates, and advocated successfully for Family Therapy in Maryland. After retiring, she volunteered as a resource counsellor and board member of many charitable organizations, including Laurel Advocacy and Referral Service (LARS), Ignatian Volunteer Corp, Gabriel Network, and Pro Bono Counselling,

She was a very active organizer in St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Laurel, MD. She also had many dear friends that she met with regularly for mutual spiritual and social support. Everyone she met -- friend or stranger, experienced how Linda was always fully present with each of us -- in person or a call or a note or a thoughtful little gift. Linda loved doing her crafts and watercolor paintings, which she gifted freely. May everyone she ever loved spend the rest of our lives sharing our caring, inner Linda with others, especially those we find in need.

Inurnment was held at the Maryland Veterans' Cemetery, Crownsville.
