MARCELLA SALVANT, 75
Marcella Salvant, age 75 of the Odenton/Ft. Meade community, passed away on Friday, September 19, 2014 after a battle with breast cancer. She was born in New Orleans, Louisiana to Melba Mae White and Carlton Broussard on January 18, 1939.

Marcella was a saved believer in the Lord Jesus Christ and trusted Him for eternal life.

Marcella attended the Mississippi public school system, before attending the Twentieth Century Business College in Mobile, AL. As a military wife she traveled with her husband and three children all over the world,including Wakkanai and Misawa Japan, Iraklion Crete, and Clark Airbase Philippines.

God, family,friends, her beloved dachshunds, and cooking were Marcella's love and joy. She combined many of these true loves while frequently hosting friends and family for dinner. She not only nourished people with her food but also with her great love for Jesus Christ.Marcella was also a tropical fish enthusiast and an avid gardener with a fantastic green thumb, who also loved traveling, Japanese embroidering, and spending time with family and friends.

Marcella enjoyed her time with her husband and childrenmost of all,and whenever her children traveled she traveled with them.

Marcella worked for Air Force and Army Exchange Services while living abroad. Upon her return to Maryland, she made a career change, working as a daycare provider, teacher and finally a teacher's aide at Odenton Christian School until 2013.

Marcella was a member of First Baptist Church of Glenarden, and former long-time member of Ft. Meade Gospel Services.

Marcella is preceded in death by her parents, grandparents Haney and Marcellina White (who raised her), aunts Marlyn Cook and Sister Marcella White (who were like her sisters), and nine other aunts and uncles.
Marcella is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years Henry L. Salvant of Odenton, MD.; three loving children, Felice Salvant of Hanover, MD, Elise Salvant and Maurice Salvant of Columbia MD; cherished grandson Anthony Francis; devoted brother Edmond Broussard of Oakland, CA.; beloved aunt and uncle Darcie Paczosa and James White, and over 50 loving nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews in California, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, and Texas. She also leaves behind many cherishedfriends and neighbors.

In honor of Marcella's love of gardening, the family has asked that you wear an accent of color in her memory.

The family will receive friends on Friday September 26, 2014 from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm at Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., 1411 Annapolis Road, Odenton, MD. 21113. The Funeral Service and Repass will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 10am at Argonne Hills Chapel Center, 7100 Rockenbach Road, Ft. Meade, MD. 20755. Interment will be at Columbia Memorial Park, Columbia, MD.
