Jeanette S. Rhoad

Jeanette Addie Sanders Rhoad was born on March 15th 1933. She passed away at the age of 81 on Monday, August 25th, 2014 at her home in Columbia, Maryland. Born the daughter of Bernard M Sanders and Addie Baldwin Sanders on the family dairy farm in rural Cordova, South Carolina. Jeanette was a high school and college basketball player at Winthrop College in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Her love of sports carried over throughout her life as she was an avid and devoted fan of the University of Maryland Men's basketball team and the Baltimore Orioles. At the age of 57 she earned her business degree from the University of Maryland. She was an active member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Highland, Maryland where she often volunteered. She also volunteered at the local charitable Christian Women's Thrift Shop in Ellicott City, Maryland.
After retiring from a 20 year career as Church Secretary of Clinton United Methodist Church, Jeanette moved back to Cordova, South Carolina to care for her mother Addie. Jeanette returned to Maryland to be near her growing family in Columbia, Maryland in 2006. Returning to Maryland provided her the opportunity to be with her four sons, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren all of whom in which she took great pride. Jeanette was active until her passing and enjoyed gardening, swimming and spending time with her family and friends
Jeanette is survived by her son John Rhoad and his wife Debbie, son Steve Rhoad and his partner Charisse Desperes, son Dale Rhoad and his partner David Fox, son Ken Rhoad and his wife Rachel.
Jeanette is also survived by her grandchildren Devin and his wife Erinn, Brendan, a Naval Officer currently deployed overseas and her twin grandchildren Kolten and Reagan. Jeanette is also survived by her great grandchildren Don, John-David and Leah, her brother Bernard "Jack" Sanders and his wife Polly of Atlanta, Georgia and her sister Mary Murden and her husband Tom of Cordova, South Carolina and many loving nieces and nephews. Jeanette is predeceased by her younger brother Bill Sanders of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
