David Arthur Staub, "Art" of Laurel, MD, passed away on Sunday, October 26, 2014. Art was born on January 18, 1959 in Gettysburg, PA to Robert Clayton Staub and Carol (nee Hardman) Staub.

Art was raised in Emmitsburg, MD and it was in Emmitsburg that Art volunteered at his first fire company at the age of 16. After earning his AA degree he moved to Savage, MD to work for Howard County Parks. While working in Savage, Art was a member and lived at the Savage Volunteer Fire Department. In 1988, Art married Karen Owens and moved to Laurel, MD. It was then that Art began his formal relationship volunteering with the Laurel Volunteer Fire Department. Art worked for a several years at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab Fire Department before moving onto Loudon County Fire Department in 1995. Art started his career at Loudon County as a Fire Fighter in 1995 and ultimately retired in 2012 as Fire Marshal. Art continued his career in Fire & Rescue as a fire inspector for Fairfax County. Art was a Life Member of the Laurel Volunteer Fire Department and held many positions including Trustee, serving on the Fire Prevention Committee and Co-Chairman of the Laurel Fire Watch. Art had a passion for Fire Prevention

Art is survived by his beloved wife of 26 years Karen L. (nee Owens) Staub, his devoted daughters Katie Staub and Cristin Owens, his cherished granddaughter Ruby Mazzuca, his loving sister Bobbie Jean Click and parents Robert and Carol Staub. Art is also survived by his Godson, Alex Blankenship and many other family and friends.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2014 from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM and again from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the Laurel Volunteer Fire Department, 7411 Cherry Lane, Laurel, MD 20707. A Fire Department service will begin at 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 3, 2014 at the Laurel Volunteer Fire Department beginning at 1:00 PM. Interment will be help privately at a later date.
